Almost immediately as we drove to Rapid City we were hit with a series of thunderstorm cells. Lots of lightning and at times heavy downpours of rain.
All along the way were legions of bikers headed to Sturgis. Some paid no attention to the weather. Just kept on biking. Others (mostly on Hondas) huddled up under overpasses waiting for the cells to pass over.
We had a great breakfast in Sturgis and even managed to check out the fame FULL THROTTLE SALOON. could not find a parking spot.
Sturgis was indeed a sight to behold. I can see and feel the excitement. Maybe one year Ellen and I can come on bikes.
We noticed bikers coming from all over the country. Many towed their bikes in fully enclosed toy haulers and trailers the broke out the bikes and rode them after getting closer to Sturgis.
We gave ourselves a treat and "camped" at a fabulous Hampton Inn in Buffalo, Wyoming. No bugs. No skeeters. Wonderfully clean bathrooms. Then we "cooked" just down the road at the Winchester Steak House.
Great Day.
Breakfast in Sturgis.
Our "campground" in Buffalo
