Incredible Grand Canyon

Ellen and I  spent an incredible couple days viewing the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

What magnificence!

Our little cameras can hardly do justice to the scope and beauty but we will post some photos anyway.

The traffic was moderate but not bad at all. We viewed the canyon from the rim for two days and dry camped one night at the Park Service campground.  The web said all full but when we asked in person we found a couple last minute no shows that openned up a camping spot for us.  We ate a late dinner outside by starlight. A glass of pink wine made it romantic.   Camper was too hot to sleep well. AC does not work unless you have shore power.

The Park Service has developed a well planned bus service that allows everyone to park your car or RV and ride anywhere you might need to go. The Park Service deserves a medal or gold star on their bus service. We used it all day yesterday.

We saw two big Elk in the park. One walked right through our campground within a few yards of us at 6 am. After a full day of viewing and soaking up another day of beauty overload we drove to Williams outside the park for a camping spot with hookups and air conditioning.   We will lay over an extra day here to recharge our batteries.

We ate a very nice Mexican dinner in downtown Williams on ROUTE 66.  Warm sunshine, live music (well Ellen could hear it even if I couldn't ) and an outside grill cooking carne asada.
